Mohammad Husni Thamrin Building

Mohammad Husni Thamrin building is located at Jalan Kenari II No. 15, Senen, Central Jakarta. It also called Kenari building. It was the residence of a Dutchman called Meneer de Has, bought by Thamrin in 1929. Later Thamrin granted this building to the Indonesian national movement known as PPKI, so that this building called Indonesian Consulation. In 1929 the Indonesia Raya Anthem was played in this building for the first time. Also in this year, the Indonesian National Party Congress I and II were held on May 18-20. In 1930 the building was used for drama performance that aimed to encourage Indonesian fighter’s spirits. Between 1960 and 1965 this building became a place of education for governmental officers. In 1966-1977 it was used for evening lecture by the University of Jakarta and in day time was used for Arena Siswa Senior High School. On August 29, 1994 this building was granted by the heirs to DKI Jakarta regional administration.
