Old City

The environment that including this region covered Sunda Kelapa, Pasar Ikan, Luar Batang, Kali Besar, Taman Fatahillah and Glodok. The area of the Kota Tua Region approximately is about 139 hectare. This region was the beginning of the future growth of the Jakarta city since the 14 century. During 1527 this Port City was seized by Fatahillah and replaced the name of his city to Jayakarta. Further in 1620 this city was occupied by VOC Netherlands that changed into Batavia. This city in the 18 century was developing to the side of south until the area of the Fatahillah garden and Glodok now. As the old city, Jakarta still often was leaving legacy of the history of the past took the form of buildings with Europe and China architecture from the 17 century to the beginning of the 20th century. This old city was maintained as the area of restoration.
